EC confirms £2.6bn regional aid

The EC has announced £2.6bn of funding for deprived areas in Britain over the next 5 years. Nine regional development plans drawn up by government have also been approved. Regeneration experts have voiced concerns that this will be the last time UK renewal schemes receive adequate funding from Europe, due to the forthcoming enlargement of the EU. Includes a table detailing funding awarded to each region, and an estimate of new jobs this will create.
