Information for life cycle costing
Martin, J.
Information for life cycle costing - 2001 - CSM (Chartered Surveyor Monthly) March 2001, 34-35(2) .
There is an increasing need to analyse the life cycle costs of buildings from the earliest stage of a project. Pressure to do this is coming from a number of directions including recent government initiatives - PFI, Best Value tests and the "Rethinking Construction" report, and the private sector, which is demanding more predictability in the running costs of buildings. In this climate, provides guidance on where to obtain essential information on life cycle costing. Key sources noted include: the RICS guidance note on life-cycle costing and BCIS Online. A series of occupancy cost plans for typical buildings are also being produced by BMI. Includes graphs illustrating the information provided by BCIS Online, and a BMI occupancy cost plan. Provides a useful listing of other information sources on the subject.
