Meeting the challenge of assessment

Levett, R.

Meeting the challenge of assessment - 2001 - Planning (for the Natural and Built Environment) (1410) 16 March 2001, 14-15(2) .

The work of planners is becoming increasingly complex, as they are expected to take more and more factors into account, and to demonstrate clearly that they have done so. This has led to increased demands on the tools they use for defending and formulating their decisions and policies. In response to these pressures, a new appraisal tool has been launched by the Countryside Agency, English Nature, English Heritage and the Environment Agency. Considers the ideas behind, and features of, the "Quality of Life Appraisal Tool", which promises to mark a significant advance in planning appraisal tools. Diagram. The tool is available at: www.qualityoflifecapital.org.uk. Alternatively, printed versions can be obtained from Rachel Churchill at th Countryside Agency's planning branch, tel: 01242 521381.
