Modernising housing law

Partington, M.

Modernising housing law - 2001 - Legal Action April 2001, 10(1) .

In response to Lord Woolf's recommendation, in his report "Access to Justice", that there should be a review of housing law, the Law Commission has recently published a consultation document entitled: "Reform of housing law: a scoping paper". In this the Commission argues for the modernisation of housing law on the grounds that there is too much of it, parts may not comply with the Human Rights Act 1998, and it is too complex. Provides further details about the contents of the consultation document. Looks at the next steps, and likely timetable, should government agree with the need for the reforms identified by the Law Commission. Further details and copies of the scoping paper can be found at: "www.lawcom.gov.uk" under 'Administrative Justice'. Alternatively, hard copies and other information can be obtained from: Richard Percival, Law Commission, Conquest House, 37-38 John Street, Theobalds Road, London WC1N 2BQ.
