The UK Government has agreed to sign up to the 1970 UNESCO Convention on the Means of Prohibiting the Illicit Import and Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property ₁ one of the key recommendations of the Advisory Panel on Illicit Trade which is seen as one of the key ways of tackling illicit trade in art and antiques.
