Stakeholder pensions are effective from 6 April 2001, the date when people can start paying money into stakeholder pensions. The next deadline when employers who are not exempt must offer staff access to a stakeholder pension is 8 October 2001. Outlines advice and tips to get the process started. An employers' questionnaire to find out if staff have to be offered a stakeholder pension is available at www.stakeholder.opra.gov.uk/decisiontree or a copy of the DSS publication, "Stakeholder pensions. a guide for employers" can be obtained by tel. 0845 7 646 646.
