Discusses the benefits of the Party Wall Act 1996 which applies to property owners who wish to make alterations to their premises. Argues the act can be of much assistance to building owners but only if they stand by the requirements of the act. For example in "Louis v Sadiq" building works were undertaken on a terraced house without serving the correct notice which resulted in costly damages being awarded.
