Discusses the Ministry of Defence's shakeout out of its property services. It has been announced that Defence Estates is planning to extend prime contracting to its estate management. There are fears by some firms that the number of surveyors used to service the properties will be cut back substantially. It will be some months before the firms know their fate and the new estate management strategy will not be implemented until 2004. Table shows the extent of properties and land owned by the Ministry of Defence.
