Going to plan?

Madine, V.

Going to plan? - 2001 - Building 266(8180) 12 April 2001, 38-40(3) .

Describes the concept of masterplans relating to regeneration projects. Argues that local authorities often misunderstand and misapply the concept with the result that some firms are now refusing to apply for tender for masterplanning jobs in the UK. Explains that clearer guidance is needed on how to produce and manage masterplans with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment taking the lead here. Includes CABE's guide to getting the most from masterplans, and an example from Newcastle on how not to approach this type of scheme.
