Government gives the go-ahead for a £190m light rail system for South Hampshire. The 9-mile long network will run from Fareham to Portsmouth, via Gosport and a proposed new tunnel under Portsmouth Harbour. Government hopes the rail scheme will reduce traffic congestion, improve links to Gosport and Portsmouth and help regeneration of those areas.
