European slowdown to hit all sectors

Figures from the European Construction Industry Federation show a Europe-wide growth rate of 2.7% for 2000, 1% lower than in 1999, with that for 2001 at 1.7%. Belgium, Denmark and Germany were hit by last year's slowdown whilst France, Holland and Spain experienced growth and there were skill shortages in both France and Holland. Employment in the Irish construction industry continues to grow
