In an internal compromise, two DETR-sponsored bodies are to be set up with responsibility for health and safety in the construction industry. Both bodies will be chaired by Sir John Egan. However, construction groups have voiced concerns that the existence of two bodies could lead to fragmentation of the health and safety agenda.
