RIBA welcomes funds for sustainable design

RIBA has welcomed government's pledge to provide £3m for the construction of energy-efficient buildings that use solar-power. This move will help the UK meet its Kyoto commitment to reducing carbon dioxide levels. It is estimated that, as a result of the first funding round of £1.4m, over 100 homes will have solar panels installed by the end of 2001.
