Outlines how the RICS maintains professionalism through high educational standards, CPD, ethical standards and compulsory professional indemnity insurance. Highlights geomatics as a dynamic professional discipline which is not easily defined by standards of practice, but suggests that the manipulation of spatial data may alter this in the future. Concludes that it is the responsibility of RICS members to ensure they act in a professional and ethic manner.
