Warns that those involved in the creation, promotion or management of property investment funds need to make sure they are complying with the provisions of the Financial Services Act 1986. Notes that authorisation is obtained by joining one of the recognised self-regulating organisations (RSROs), supervised by the Financial Services Authority. With the probable introduction of the Financial Services and Markets Act in November 2001, this system will change and businesses will have to be authorised directly by the Financial Services Authority.
