Refers to the judgement made in the copyright infringement case, "Cala Homes (South) Ltd v Alfred McAlpine Homes East Ltd (No 1)" (ChD, X2546) where the judge criticised the expert witness for perceiving his role as allowing the sacrifice of the truth in pursuit of a particular outcome. Also considers the role of an advocate, and highlights that whilst an expert witness is expected to give his honest and unbiased opinion, an advocate has no duty to so.
