According to LloydsTSB's "Focus on Farming - Survey Results 2001", over 95% of farmers are against a high rate of subsidies, or a strictly controlled market. This is despite the widely held view that the number of farm businesses will fall by over 20% during the next five years. Eight out of ten farmers surveyed felt that substantial reform of the CAP is needed to secure the long-term future of UK agriculture.
