Research from CB Hilier Parker, presented at the recent conference "Retailing-the future?", indicates shoppers are using more accessible out-of-town retail centres like Bluewater, rather than shopping in central London. Hillier Parker predicts that by 2005 the West End will have lost 7.5% of its hold on the domestic market. The capital will be forced to rely even more on tourist revenues.
