An analysis of the results of a survey of construction firms on e-business, economics, personnel and tax carried out by Grant Thornton and Contract Journal which has revealed that the current skills shortage is the biggest problem facing the industry. In addition to the scarcity of labour the report found that retaining and motivating staff, red tape concerning employees' rights and succession planning were major concerns for the respondents.
