Can forestry stem the flood?

Nisbet, T.

Can forestry stem the flood? - 2001 - Forestry and British Timber 30(6) June 2001, 8-21(4) .

Asks whether forestry has a role to play in reducing flooding through 'interception', the evaporation of water from the surface of the leaves during and after rainfall. Considers the interception of different forest types and how forest management practice can affect interception and flood flows, suggesting that replacing lost floodplain woodlands could provide flood retention although more research into this is needed.
