The US slowdown and the foot-and-mouth crisis are likely to impact on the Republic of Ireland's construction boom, with the Irish Construction Industry Federation (CIF) reducing growth targets from 7% to 2%. The CIF president indicated that the public sector would be the main growth area for 2001.
