Agents are predicting the end of the 25-year lease in the City of London office market as more landlords move towards break clauses and shorter leases to attract occupiers. Several deals have been concluded recently which allow tenants to leave their buildings before their leases expire, and a move towards five- or ten-year leases is widely anticipated in the current depressed market.
