Social investment for healthy return

D'Aguilar, M.

Social investment for healthy return - 2001 - Regeneration and Renewal 15 June 2001, 20-21(2) .

Discusses Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) and their role in successful regeneration projects. The assessments, carried out by facilitators familiar with the effects of regeneration projects on the health of local populations, seek to reduce inequalities and address the wider issues underlying health including the level of paid employment, quality of housing, social exclusion and support from family and friends as well as provision of medical care. HIAs can be carried out at any stage of the regeneration process and ensure that projects benefit the largest cross section of the community possible. Case studies.
