A recent test case appeal decision indicates that, as prescribed by PPG3, the Planning Inspectorate will strictly enforce a minimum density of 30 homes per hectare. A proposal by Alfred McAlpine Homes North West to build 62 new houses at Whitefield was rejected on the grounds that it provided 28.8 homes per hectare.
