Improving the quality of urban life will be a new priority for all government departments. Improving public space, and looking at the way public funds are used in urban areas, has been singled out as one of seven specific reviews to be carried out by a number of government departments, in preparation for the next Comprehenive Spending Review, due to be concluded in July 2002.
