Building of the new Cardiff Bay home of the National Assembly for Wales has been suspended and its architect Richard Rogers sacked in a dispute over the building's cost. The construction costs were claimed to have risen from £13.8m to £24.1m. Senior officials at the partnership argued that the sacking was unnecessary and a threat to the practice's reputation.
