The health service is to set up by April 2002, a public-private company, 'Inventures", that will bid for smaller healthcare projects worth less than £20m. More than 100 firms have expressed interest in buying the 51% of the trading arm of NHS Estates agency involved in property management. However the Department of Health has expressed some concerns that there may be a conflict of interest in between disposing of surplus land and properties and providing new premises.
