6+e NFU presented its survival strategy, "A strategy for UK agriculture", to food industry leaders at the Food Industry Summit. The strategy presents farming as being in a vicious circle where lower incomes lead to lack of investment and an inability to consider wider markets. It outlines 4 key opportunities: producing commodity products; adding value and developing new commodity products including non-food ones and providing environmental and other services to the public. However it does not mention the need for a longterm solution through government policy.
