Ban on child tractor drivers

Ban on child tractor drivers - 2001 - Times 13 August 2001, 6(1) .

After the United Nations' International Labour Organisation (ILO) produced a new convention on health and safety, government has had to consider a new employment law. Children under 16 will be banned from driving tractors on farms. However the National Farmers' Union will be lobbying government to try and prevent the change. The proposed changes raises the age limit at which children can do hazardous work on farms from 13 to 16 or even 18 in some instances.
