£215m scheme offers UK firms chance to be leaders - 2001 - DEFRA News Release 100/01 14 August 2001 (2) .

British firms have the potential to become world leaders in the new market for trading greenhouse gas emissions under government's £215m programme, the 'UK Emissions Trading Scheme'. The scheme could reduce up to 2m tonnes of carbon a year from the atmosphere and create new job and investment opportunities for industry.
