In Beresforde v Chesterfield BC and Another (W T Parker (a firm) third party) , CA 10 July 1989, an independent firm of surveyors carried out a building society valuation and the report was provided on the building society`s own headed paper. At issue was whether the building society could be held liable for the alleged negligence of the valuer . When valued, the property was still being constructed. Serious defects later appeared.
