Only half of the places available on the new government backed foundation degree course in construction at the University of Central Birmingham (UCE) have been filled. Quantity surveying applications to UCE are also down, due to the University's row with the RICS over accreditation of its quantity surveying courses. Other universities are also struggling to fill places on civil engineering, construction management and quantity surveying courses.
