Supplementary business rate angers CBI

Supplementary business rate angers CBI - 2001 - Financial Times 3 September 2001, 4(1) .

According to business leaders the Welsh Assembly is preessing ahead with a supplementary business rate even though the idea has been dropped in England and Scotland. The planned rate means local authorities can levy up to 5% of the uniform national business rate. The CBI expressed concerns that a supplementary rate would make Welsh business less competitive by discouraging inward investment.
