Describes the work carried out since the floods of 2000 which resulted in the creation of a national flood and coastal defence database (NFCCD). It is hoped that the NFCCD will be available in 2002 to provide a central reference tool for the organisations - the Environment Agency, local authorities and internal drainage boards - will be able to draw upon in assessing risks for planning applications and planning flood and coastal defences.
