Describes the digitising of the National Grid by the Ordnance Survey , efforts by local authorities , notably Cheshire and Dudley to digitise planning data and a field trial of a digital records base carried out by the National Joint Utilities Council in 1982. Concludes with a look at work being carried out by Pinpoint Analysis to pinpoint the precise geographic position, to within 1 metre of every address in Britain.
