Planning for telecommunications-different signals - 2001 - Town & Country Planning 70(9) September 2001, 254-255(2) .
The telecommunications industry is undergoing constant and sustained expansion, with significant impacts on the environment. With the introduction of the third generation (3G) technology, expected to begin in 2002, further rapid growth is expected. The greatest concentration of equipment will be in urban areas and major transport corridors, but rural areas are also likely to experience development pressures. In the light of this expected expansion examines the development of different regulatory and planning regimes for the development of telecommunications in Scotland and England and Wales.
