A piece of technology, Datadot, an invisible barcode has been adapted to tag art and antiques. The Datadot is chemically inert and invisible to the naked eye, but offers permanent and indelible identification of objects without damaging them in any way. The details of each item are logged into a master database to which police forces have access. The Association of British Insurers are interested in the development.
