NLIS is the statutory body that grants licenses for online access to land and property information from a variety of sources. Each NLIS licence holder will compete to attract the best portfolio of electronic data providers, ranging from map makers to local authorities. Searchflow.co.uk, a joint venture of the Property Service Agency, Geographic Information Systems and ESRI, is the third, and latest, internet service to win a licence from NLIS. Its service is aimed at solicitors acting on behalf of buyers, sellers and lenders. It does not charge a subscription, earning most of its income from transaction charges for providing data to solicitors.
