The Inland Revenue has pledged to crack down on contractors exploiting bogus self-employment within the construction industry, setting out its plans in a letter to the T&G trade union. The IR will go through contractors' tax records from the past year looking for evidence of tax evasion, bogus self-employment and fraud.
