The main organisations for arbitrators and independent experts, Arbrix and Index respectively, may merge. Both organisations will put the proposal to their members at EGMs to coincide with their joint conference on 15 November 2001. By the end of 2001, the RICS, which appoints arbitrators and independent experts in rent review disputes, will only appoint practitioners who have passed new exams.
