According to CB Hillier Parker's "Shopping Centres in the Pipeline" research, shopping centre development is on the increase. The total amount of shopping centre space proposed or under construction rose to 4.9m sq m at the end of 3Q 2001. This is the highest level of activity recorded since September 1993. The report also shows the decline of factory outlet development as the market reaches saturation. Table.
