Research body BRE warns that construction product makers risk losing business because they are unprepared for European standardisation. UK manufacturers lag behinds their European counterparts because they are slow to organise CE marking, which indicates the product has passed minimum performance requirements. Currently, CE marking is voluntary in the UK, but compulsory in most of Europe.
