Safety experts consider that the potential impact of forthcoming vibration regulations can be lessened by driving the machinery slower, thus reducing vibration. Another suggestion is fitting speed limiters on the plant. In its present form, the "Physical Agents (Vibration)" directive, currently in its final stages would demand huge decreases in the the amount of hours a plant operator spends in the cab. Industry bodies are lobbying Brussels in a last attempt to raise the proposed level of 'whole body vibration' to 1.15 ms 2 from 0.8 ms 2.
