In the wake of the US terrorist attacks, article looks at the measures property owners, agents and tenants should take to be prepared for similar incidents. Outlines tenant responsibilities for their own safety under the Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992 and highlights the Home Office document, "Bombs - protecting people and property". Discusses the responsibility of owners over tenants in multi-occupied office buildings and shopping centres and suggests that a terrorism threat plan should consider the following areas: likelihood of terrorist attack; review of security measures; action in the event of a bomb warning; measures to ensure staff are vigilant; involvement in developments in area of location; and plan for evacuation, search and recovery.
