High anxiety - 2001 - Estates Gazette (0143) 27 October 2001, 57-61(5) .

Special report on the planning inquiry into Heron's application for a 37-storey tower at 106-126 Bishopsgate, EC3. The five week planning inquiry opened on 23 October 2001 and is likely to set precedents regarding the future of high-rise building projects in London. Presents the views of the opponents and supporters of Heron Tower. English Heritage argue that Heron Tower will destroy the view of St Pauls Cathedral and blight surrounding listed buildings. In addition, it could compromise Westminster's stance on the undesirability of tall buildings. However, developers and agents claim that office clustering could strengthen the view of St Pauls Cathedral and believe blocking the development would restrict available floorspace in the city.
