"Friends Provident Life and Pensions Ltd v SoS for Transport, Local Government and the Regions" QBD 19 October 2001. A, the owner of a retail centre, objected to a planning application for a large retail development in its vicinity. The local planning authority were minded to grant planning permission. A requested that SoS call in the application for his determination, on the grounds that A's rights under European Convention on Human Rights Article 6 would otherwise be breached. When SoS refused to intervene A sought judicial review. A's application was dismissed.
