New roles for urban planners

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is undertaking a detailed review of training and professional accreditation for planners. The one year study aims to create new approaches and structures for the RTPI and consider incorporating urban management and regeneration activities. Other professional bodies have also addressed changing professional activity patterns; in January the RICS will set up a group of chartered surveyors specialising in urban regeneration.
