The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has issued guidance to its members in the light of heightened concerns in the US following the events of 11 September 2001, and reports by a number of architects and engineers of suspicious requests to see building plans. (See: http://www.aia.org). The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has not published any formal guidance to date. However, its Practice Department is advising caution. It recommends suspicious enquiries are reported to the police.
