Buildings must generate their own energy

Buildings must generate their own energy - 2001 - Building 14 December 2001, 11 .

New buildings may have to generate their own energy if government adopts proposals from the Cabinet Office performance and innovation unit. The DLTR has been advised to stipulate that all buildings must be self-sufficient. This will have implications on the Building Regulations, perhaps meaning that Part L will have to be rewritten. Other measures proposed include increased use of solar panels and setting energy efficiency targets. If implemented, this will help government meet its commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 2010.
