More heritage renewal projects caught up in state aid confusion - 2002 - Regeneration and Renewal 18 January 2002, 2(1) .

Heritage-led regeneration schemes are being held up by European state aid rules which state that public money should not be used to support private sector ventures. At least three local authorities are affected by this including a project by a regional development agency Advantage West Midlands which refused to provide match funding for a heritage project in Stoke-on-Trent.
